Henryk Wisner

Henryk Wisner, born in 1936 in Warsaw, is a distinguished Polish historian and academic associated with the Polish Academy of Sciences. With a rich academic background, he graduated from the University of Warsaw in 1962 and earned his doctoral degree in 1967, followed by a postdoctoral degree in 1972. He was awarded the title of professor in 1987 and became a full professor in 1994. Wisner has dedicated many years of his career to studying modern Polish history, especially the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the reign of the Vasa dynasty, with a particular focus on Lithuania between 1587 and 1648.

His scholarly work has significantly contributed to our understanding of Polish history. Wisner is known for his expertise in the era of the Vasa dynasty, providing valuable insights into the political and social dynamics of that period. As a member of the Institute of History at the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Lituanist Committee, he actively participates in academic research and historical discourse.
