Aimée de Jongh, born in 1988 in Waalwijk, Netherlands, is a renowned graphic novelist, animator, and illustrator. Her artistic journey began with manga-inspired comics created with the Dutch collective Cheesecake! Studio during her teenage years. After completing her animation studies at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, she expanded her skills with further education at KASK Ghent and Gobelins Summer School in Paris.
De Jongh's career is marked by a series of acclaimed graphic novels and numerous awards. Her debut graphic novel, "The Return of the Honey Buzzard," earned her the Prix Saint-Michel and was adapted into a live-action film. She gained international recognition with her collaboration with Belgian scenarist Zidrou on "Blossoms in Autumn," and her autobiographical comic "TAXI!" about her taxi rides. Her most celebrated work, "Days of Sand," about the American Dust Bowl, has been a bestseller and received multiple awards and nominations, including an Eisner Award nomination.
In addition to her work in comics, Aimée de Jongh has contributed to graphic journalism, notably creating visual reports on refugee camps and other social issues. Her animation projects include directing short films, storyboarding for series, and creating animated shorts for exhibitions and museums.
