Dick Francis, born Richard Stanley Francis, was a renowned British jockey and prolific author. His life journey began in Wales, where he was born into a family with a strong horse racing background. After serving as a pilot in the Royal Air Force during World War II, Francis dedicated over a decade to a successful career as a steeplechase jockey, accumulating more than 350 victories and earning the title of champion jockey in Britain.
